Ferrari plans to introduce its first electric car in 2025 and it is collaborating with Ex-Apple designer Jony Ive to design Ferrari’s first electric car. Ferrari is working with LoveFrom a design company started by Jony Ive and industrial designer Marc Newson.
Apart from Ferrari’s first electric car, LoveFrom will also be working on a range of cars from Ferrari. Ferrari has been working the electric car for a few years now.
Exor, the parent company of Ferrari, announced the partnership with Ive’s design company, LoveFrom, on Monday.
Exor wrote in a press release, “The first expression of this new partnership will bring together Ferrari’s legendary performance and excellence with LoveFrom’s unrivalled experience and creativity that has defined extraordinary world changing products,”
“In building great companies, we also believe in building great partnerships,” said Ferrari Chairman John Elkann. “Soon after LoveFrom was founded we began to talk with Jony and Marc about opportunities to combine their world-renowned creativity with ours, in complementary and incremental ways.”
Ive left Apple in 2019 after 27 years at the company, where he led the design of some of Apple’s most iconic products, including the Mac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad.
“We have been friends with John for many years and are great admirers of his insight and vision,” said Newson and Ive. “As Ferrari owners and collectors, we could not be more excited about collaborating with this extraordinary company and in particular with the design team expertly led by Flavio Manzoni. We see some uniquely exciting opportunities which we believe will yield important and valuable work.”
